Job Title

Senior Technical Accountant

What does a great Senior Accountant, Technical Accounting, do:

You will provide assistance with company-wide oversight and direction over internal financial policies and U.S. GAAP technical accounting and reporting matters for a $20 billion revenue publicly traded, Fortune 500 company headquartered in Milwaukee, WI.  This includes standardization of policy and procedures, researching technical accounting matters and drafting related position papers, assisting with implementation of new accounting pronouncements and various value-add projects, and interface with the external auditors.

What you will do:

  • Analyze the impact of emerging accounting standards on the Company and assist in implementing and educating the business of necessary changes; ensure proper disclosure in public filings.

  • Perform analysis and technical accounting research related to acquisitions, dispositions, revenue recognition, leasing activities, debt offerings, derivatives / hedging, stock-based compensation, segment reporting, cash flows and other financial accounting and reporting matters that may arise.

  • Assist with corporate accounting review of significant renewals / new customer contracts for appropriate revenue recognition considerations.

  • Assist with the continuous development, maintenance, communication and governance / adherence to accounting policies and practices for the global organization.

  • Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the Company’s processes and procedures. Assist with providing and implementing recommendations for business improvements.

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization.

  • Serve as liaison with internal and external auditors.

What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline

  • 2+ years of experience in public accounting (audit background), internal audit, and/or accounting with a large public corporation

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of current accounting and financial reporting issues and practices (U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations)

What would be great to have:

  • CPA license

  • Experience with and understanding of revenue recognition concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; SAP and BPC experience is preferred
