Technical Analyst

What does a successful Payment Systems Analyst do?
A successful Payment Systems Analyst is instrumental in ensuring that payment processes run smoothly by analysing and mapping data between various systems and formats. They work closely with development and QA teams, supporting the implementation of new features and troubleshooting issues. A strong understanding of payment protocols and transaction workflows is key to identifying and resolving discrepancies. They ensure accuracy and efficiency in data flows and contribute to seamless payment operations.

What you will do:

  • Perform data mapping from the source to target systems (e.g., mapping to Kafka objects, Omnipay flat file formats, PTLFx file extracts, fixed format reports, etc.).
  • Create transaction workflow models to optimize processing efficiency.
  • Provide software development support by preparing new work items for the development team.
  • Collaborate with the development team to refine Jira items and ensure smooth project progress.
  • Work closely with the QA team to develop test plans and strategies.
  • Perform defect analysis to identify and resolve issues within the transaction workflows.

What you will need to have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in IT, with around 2 years in an analyst role.
  • In-depth knowledge of the payments industry.
  • Experience working with VISA and MasterCard authorization and clearing processing specifications based on the ISO 8583 protocol.
  • A detailed understanding of authorization message details and how they are used in clearing processes.
  • Knowledge of acquirer data usage in outgoing messages.
  • Hands-on experience with authorization systems like Base24 or similar.
  • Experience working with the Kafka messaging system and data formats such as AVRO or JSON.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence (or similar tools) for project and team management.

What would be great to have:

  • Experience with the ISO 20022 protocol for the payments industry.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented, idea-sharing environment.
